Job Title: Galveston County Wellness Center Clinician
Location: Galveston County
FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary: Under the general direction of the Director of Crisis and Justice Services, the Galveston County Wellness Center Clinician performs clinical and administrative duties in support of the Wellness Center and Gulf Coast crisis services. The Clinician provides direct services to individuals admitted to the Center and coordinates with GCC crisis services for admission assessments, care coordination, and follow-up to reduce crisis recurrence, hospitalization, and legal involvement.
Essential Duties:
Evaluate clients for admission to the Galveston County Wellness Center extended observation and crisis respite units and refer to the appropriate treatment setting.
Provide clinician diagnosis and assessment within 1 hour of admission to extended observation or by the next business day for crisis respite; assess social, environmental, cultural factors, supports, and coping plans.
Complete or facilitate crisis treatment and recovery plans by the next business day after admission; address follow-up and aftercare, safety planning, and education for individuals and families/LAR.
Coordinate ANSA assessments and LOC (Level of Care) updates to ensure appropriate care levels and uninterrupted services.
Provide group therapeutic or psycho-educational interventions twice daily; offer individual therapy as required by treatment plans.
Link individuals with substance use treatment when needed and coordinate post-discharge follow-up with GCC outpatient services.
Assist with discharge planning and ensure adherence to GCC policies, procedures, and compliance programs.
Report to the Director of Crisis & Justice Services and work with other clinicians to maintain staffing coverage and on-call availability.
Maintain professional conduct, customer service, and collaboration with staff, clients, and external partners; comply with dress code, safety guidelines, and driving policies.
Intermittent travel within Brazoria and Galveston Counties; out-of-region trainings may be required; valid Texas driver’s license and transportation required.
Required Education/ Licensure/Certifications:
Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field
LPC, LCSW, or LMFT licensure
Preferred Education/Licensure/Certifications:
Master’s degree or equivalent in behavioral sciences from an accredited program
Experience:
Preferred: 1 year related mental health experience

Abilities/Traits:
Knowledge of mental disorders and ability to work with youth, families, and communities
Strong communication, time management, and teamwork skills
Proficiency with computer systems and electronic health records; ability to interact professionally with stakeholders
Working Conditions:
Office, field, and remote settings; variable hours; potential travel within counties
Possibility of hostile or high-crime environments; exposure to tobacco products
Must meet physical requirements and standard driving safety standards
Other: The job may include special projects and assignments as requested by supervision. All duties performed in compliance with GCC policies and code of conduct.
