Job Overview
Position: Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner (FT) – Baptist Health - Central Alabama.

Summary / Responsibilities
The Nurse Practitioner shall perform tasks and procedures delegated by the collaborating Physician within their scope of practice. Responsibilities include completing complete, detailed and accurate histories, reviewing patient records to develop comprehensive medical status reports, performing physical examinations, making diagnoses and instituting therapy (including drug therapy), instituting emergency measures and treatment, arranging hospital admissions and discharges per the physician’s direction, performing hospital rounds, and providing patients with instructions and guidance regarding medical care matters. Additional duties may be assigned within scope.

Education / Experience
Master of Science in Nursing degree required. Minimum two years of related experience required. (Note: CVICU Nurse Practitioners require two years of ECMO experience.)

Licensure / Certification
Active RN license required. Active Nurse Practitioner license required. BLS required. Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) certification through National Certification Corporation (NCC) required for NICU. In all other areas, Nurse Practitioner certification through American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) required; additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc) may be required based on department.

Work Conditions / Physical Requirements
Requires sitting for 20% of the workday and mobility 80% of the workday. Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Occasional lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds. Continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Exposure to computer work. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job‑related tasks. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals and occasional exposure to radiation.
