International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, restoring health, safety, and hope to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933, IRC is one of the world’s largest international humanitarian organisations, working in more than 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities.
Scope Of Work
The Home Study and Post‑Release Services (HSPRS) project supports unaccompanied children in the U.S. This role is part of a 36‑month contract that ends on September 30, 2026. The program’s goals are to assess the safety and suitability of a sponsor before an unaccompanied child is released into a sponsor’s care (Home Study) and to provide ongoing case management support via remote and in‑home visits (Post Release Services).
Major Responsibilities
Conduct initial in‑home assessment with child and sponsor, followed by weekly contacts for the first 45‑60 days; thereafter provide remote support with monthly in‑person visits.
Develop and manage individualized service plans that guide high‑quality, trauma‑informed case management.
Conduct comprehensive assessments and produce recommendations for reunification, completing in‑person home visits and reports within 10 days of referral.
Continuously monitor changes in behaviour and general conditions that could impact child safety and wellbeing.
Provide crisis intervention support as needed, including coordination with Child Protective Services, law enforcement and other local stakeholders.
Leverage a child‑centered, developmentally appropriate approach to address the needs of children and sponsors.
Maintain accurate records in electronic case files and required databases; submit required reports and documentation on time.
Build and maintain relationships with community service providers and navigate the local social service system.
Ensure confidentiality of children and their cases and comply with all mandatory reporting requirements.
Job Requirements
Master’s degree in social work, psychology or another relevant behavioural science; direct clinical experience required.
Minimum two years’ experience in case management (intakes, assessments, service‑plan development) and at least one year of professional experience working with children, families, or child protective services.
Fluency in Spanish and English (written and verbal).
Proven ability to manage complex client situations centred on child protection principles.
Experience working with immigrant populations and preferably with unaccompanied minors in post‑release services.
Strong knowledge of local community services and ability to navigate the social‑service system.
Self‑starter with excellent problem‑solving and time‑management skills.
Willingness to travel up to 80 % of the time, up to 500 miles, including evenings and weekends.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Teams, Zoom and related platforms.
Must be cleared by the Office of Refugee Resettlement and pass background checks, including FBI fingerprints and Child Abuse and Neglect checks.
Working Environment
This position offers a hybrid remote/office schedule. When based at an IRC office, the Crisis Case Manager attends in‑person meetings as required; when remote, a dedicated private workspace is necessary.
Compensation
Pay Range: $29,000 – $36,000 per annum (US‑based candidates).
