CLINICAL DOCUMENTATION IMPROVEMENT SPECIALIST (CDIS), On-site Only, RELOCATION OFFERED
Northern Nevada Health System invites applications for the Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist (CDIS) position located on site at Northern Nevada Medical Center. The role is full‑time (40 hrs/week) with a competitive benefits package and offers relocation assistance.

Northern Nevada Medical Center is a 124‑bed acute care hospital located on 23 hillside acres at 2375 E. Prater Way in Sparks, Nevada.

Responsibilities

Conduct initial and extended‑stay concurrent reviews on selected admissions and document findings in the CDIS electronic review system.

Apply inpatient admission criteria to assign appropriate diagnoses; communicate with Case Management for patients that do not meet criteria.

Collaborate with physicians, extenders, nurses, case managers, utilization review, and HIM coders to identify principal and secondary diagnoses, procedures, and assign working DRGs for 80‑85% of the population.

Identify documentation gaps and communicate with healthcare professionals to capture necessary information.

Track progress of the DRG Assurance program, interpret CDIS tracking reports, and serve as a resource to physicians and administration regarding inpatient DRG assignment.

Qualifications

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Education or equivalent; International Medical Graduate acceptable.

Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience in an acute‑care setting; critical care, medical/surgical, or emergency department nursing preferred.

Preferred CDIS experience.

Current RN license in the State of Nevada.
