About the Organization
The Northern Prairie Human Service Zone partners with the Department of Health and Human Services to deliver child welfare safety and program protocols across North Dakota. Responsibilities

Assess and provide case management services for children residing in the home.

Develop case plans, goals, and safety plans for caretakers and children.

Reduce identified risks of child abuse and neglect.

Provide information and referral services for children and families.

Conduct case planning meetings.

Prepare affidavits and testify at court proceedings.

Additional Duties

Assess and investigate reports of child abuse and neglect while ensuring compliance with policies, best practices, and emergency intervention procedures.

Accurately document case details and connect families to essential services.

Collaborate with service providers, law enforcement, and legal entities.

Qualifications
A passion for serving others, strong organizational and communication skills, and a solid understanding of program policies and laws are essential. Candidates should be comfortable working with various software and database applications.

Education
Bachelor’s degree required in one of the following: social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, education, human services, child development and family science, behavioral health, or criminal justice.

Experience Levels

Family Services Specialist III (SC7005) : Two (2) years of professional experience as a social worker, child protective service worker, or professional case manager. A master’s degree may substitute for one (1) year of experience.

Family Services Specialist II (SC7004) : One (1) year of professional experience as a social worker, child protective service worker, or professional case manager. A master’s degree in an eligible area may substitute for the experience requirement.

Family Services Specialist I (SC7004) : No work experience required.

Travel
Frequent travel throughout Bottineau, McHenry, and Pierce Counties is required, as well as other travel within the state of North Dakota.
