The Vilas County Diversion Program is a voluntary alternative to criminal prosecution for eligible participants. Case managers provide referral screening, assessment, and wrap around case management for individuals involved in the program. This includes conducting risk and needs assessments, writing case plans, and working through behavior modification strategies with cognitive behavioral interventions. This position is critical in assisting clients as they navigate this process. The Diversion Case Manager will serve primarily Vilas County, with the occasional crossover for coverage in the Oneida County Diversion program and weekly visits to Lac du Flambeau for case management meetings.

Responsibilities

Conduct diversion intakes with incoming clients using evidence-based risk assessments

Use results of risk assessment to develop an individualized case plan with the client

Manage and monitor all aspects of the assigned caseload

Maintain a working knowledge of service providers and make referrals to appropriate providers based on client’s need

Provide accurate reports to the court

Assist clients with completing the conditions of their agreement

Enter and maintain case information in the electronic database

Prepare detailed staffing reports and attend meetings with prosecution and defense attorneys

Adhere to flexible and hybrid work schedule: remote and office schedule

Adhere to flexible meeting locations with the client in both the community and office

Other duties as assigned

Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work (preferred), or Social Service field

Pass pre-employment background check

Valid driver’s license and automobile with insurance required

Knowledge of evidence-based practices with justice-involved populations

Ability to communicate professionally and accurately, both orally and written

Demonstrated ability to work well with individuals from diverse economic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds

Effective interpersonal skills

Strong organizational skills and willingness to be flexible

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, and Excel)

Previous case management experience in a related field preferred
