Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of the Institute of American Language and Culture (ILAC), the Case Manager supports Fordham University’s IALC Community ESL (CESL) Program, which provides free ESOL and digital literacy classes, along with workshops on health literacy, mental health, workers’ rights, and citizenship. This role is essential in helping immigrant and refugee adults in the Bronx overcome barriers to education and employment. The Case Manager assesses student needs, develops individualized plans, and connects learners to community resources, empowering them to achieve their goals and advance in English proficiency.
Essential Functions
Assesses student needs and goals to develop individualized plans for educational and career success.
Identifies barriers to education and employment for each student/participant.
Assists with assessments, intake processes, and completing the Individual Student Record Form (ISRF).
Introduces students to organizational resources and opportunities, prioritizing those most relevant to their needs.
Provides education and support tailored to students’ literacy levels.
Refers students to community resources using a program-specific list of services and contacts.
Documents all interactions and time spent with students in detail.
Builds trust and rapport with students to foster motivation and goal achievement.
Management Responsibilities
Not responsible for supervision or oversight of others.
Additional Functions
Enters all case management time into the AEPP’s MIS system (ASISTS), ensuring accurate reporting.
Maintains and updates a comprehensive list of local/community resources and shares it annually with the RAEN director.
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
Associate’s degree or higher in human services, education, counseling, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in case management, adult education, or social services.
Fluency in Spanish.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to assess individual needs and develop action plans.
Familiarity with adult education principles and literacy-level instruction.
Proficiency in documentation and data entry (preferably in ASISTS or similar systems).
Knowledge of local community resources and referral processes.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Minimum Starting Salary: $53,000
Maximum Starting Salary: $59,000
