Responsibilities Maintain 24-hour accountability for nursing services provided in the ED, in conjunction with the Director of Acute Services, the Director of Nursing, and the CCO.
Assist in setting objectives and containing costs within budgeted guidelines; establish and monitor work schedules and staffing within budget.
Act as a liaison between staff and administration to ensure open communication in both directions.
Implement departmental policies and procedures in compliance with current standards of care; ensure compliance with nursing standards of practice and regulatory agencies.
Evaluate the quality of nursing care and the competency and performance of staff; submit required reports to the Director of Acute Services.
Provide staff development and orientation; oversee performance improvement efforts for emergency services.
Participate in counseling, disciplinary action, or termination processes as directed; assist Director of Acute Services with other duties as directed.

Dress and grooming reflect hospital standards; be courteous to new employees, students, and staff; communicate work accurately per policy.
Maintain BLS, ACLS, and PALS provider status as applicable; maintain licensure hours.
Attend staff meetings and mandatory education; participate in in-services; maintain dependable attendance.
Education: Current BSN RN license in Kentucky (or valid work permit); licensure in a compact state acceptable. BLS Provider; ACLS within 6 months; PALS within 6 months.
Experience: Minimum 5 years in nursing; 1 year of management preferred; experience in Emergency Medicine required.
Other requirements: Basic keyboarding and computer skills; effective communication skills.
