Job Overview
Responsible for data gathering and tracking of all blood inventory and usage, as well as quality analysis tracking as mandated by regulatory agencies. Assists with utilization review, blood administration education, and auditing. Observes and critiques blood transfusion processes on the nursing floor. Provides utilization reports and feedback to upper management. Utilizes feedback from blood transfusion observations to create and provide to Clinical Directors and nursing educators for continuing education. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision, and Values.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct audits and report findings promptly.
Produce data dashboards for quality initiatives.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality standards.
Manage resources effectively, including productivity, supplies, and equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Medical Technology, or Natural Science.
Experience:
3-5 years in a hospital setting with knowledge of transfusion medicine (RN license required).
5-7 years in Transfusion Medicine (Medical Technologist license required).
Skills & Abilities
Technical proficiency in nursing or transfusion medicine principles.
Knowledge of lab procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Minitab.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to plan, prioritize, and analyze data for quality control and education.
Licenses & Certifications
TN - Medical Technologist (MT) - Tennessee Department of Health.
Registered Nurse licenses for Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
Physical Demands
Physical activities include climbing, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive motions.
Must have good balance, coordination, and visual acuity.
Ability to react quickly in emergency situations.
Exertion of up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 25 lbs. frequently.
