Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct initial spiritual assessments to identify spiritual needs of our patients and family members and incorporate this into the individualized plan of care.
Provide effective interventions on initial and subsequent visits to meet the unique goals of our patients and family members.
Provide outreach and education/support to facilities and other community resources.
Maintain relationships with local spiritual /faith providers and resources.
Serve as spiritual support for staff regarding issues of grief and loss as it related to their professional roles.
Participate in Ethics and other relevant committees to enhance our overall program.
Participate in the ongoing development of the role of Chaplain within the agency and within community facilities.
Job Requirements
Master’s Degree in Divinity or related field required. Degree must be from an accredited program.
4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) required.
Two years of experience in spiritual care/pastoral counseling.
One year of chaplaincy work with dying or grieving individuals preferred.
Strong ability to respect each patient and family’s unique spiritual and cultural beliefs.
Ability to work effectively in private homes, facilities and hospitals.
Ability to organize, prioritize, manage time well and juggle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
Skilled in crisis intervention.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Virginia driver license, good driving record and reliable transportation.
