Registered Nurse Palliative Care PRN – Intermountain Health
Pay Range: $36.00/hr – $56.00/hr
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. The RN utilizes the nursing process, technology, therapeutic interventions, evidence-based practice, and coordination of care with other health team members.
Essential Functions
Assess: Performs appropriate assessment of physical, social, and psychological status (including cognitive, communicative, and developmental skills as appropriate). Seeks and evaluates information from patient, family, physician, non‑nursing disciplines, support staff, and other team members.
Plan: Uses assessment information and critical thinking skills to collaboratively develop individualized plan of care. Actively engages patient, family, team, and physician in developing the plan and providing education. Plans for further support needs and ensures follow‑up.
Implement: Directs the interdisciplinary care team via delegation, coordination, and collaboration. Provides or delegates care consistent with care plan, guidelines, and licensure provisions. Prioritizes and organizes patient care delivery by managing time, supplies, and resources.
Evaluate: Evaluates patient response to interventions by reviewing achievement of goals and clinical outcomes. Revises plan of care as indicated and reassesses changes as appropriate.
Professionalism: Promotes the nursing profession, supports the development of others, integrates legal and ethical standards, complies with regulatory standards, documents accurately and timely, and understands legal implications of care.

Minimum Qualifications
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice. Compact licenses must be transferred within 60 days of employment start.
RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four years of hire date.
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution. BSN is required for positions hired after 4/27/2025; prior hires may remain under earlier requirements.
Physical Requirements
Ongoing need to see and read labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.
Verbal communication and hearing ability to manage alarms and emergency situations.
Manual dexterity for manipulating equipment and documentation; frequent computer use.
Ability to lift, transfer, and carry supplies and equipment, including heavy items.
Ability to walk, assist with ambulating patients, and navigate crowded rooms with equipment.
Capacity to stand for extended periods and occasionally drive a vehicle as required.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 16
