As our next Clinical Documentation Specialist, you will work under the general direction of the HID CDI/Core Measures Supervisor or Manager, with responsibility for improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation.
Responsibilities Facilitates modifications to clinical documentation through extensive interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other patient caregivers, and medical records coding staff to support the level of service rendered to all patients as assigned.
Provides clarity of clinical information used for measuring and reporting physician and medical center outcomes which incorporates current DRG methodologies (e.g., MS-DRG) by CMS and/or other regulating/quality reporting bodies (e.g., APR-DRG).
Educates all members of the patient care team on an ongoing basis.
Qualifications Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or other advanced health care field preferred.
Foreign trained MDs will be considered.
License/Certifications: Registered Nurse, LVN, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Physician Assistant, foreign MD license or certification in Health Information Management or Medical Coding, such as RHIT, RHIA, CCDS, CDIP OR CPC, required.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in Acute Clinical Care, Utilization Review, Coding, or Case Management required.
Working knowledge of Joint Commission standards and regulatory requirements required.
Strong broad-based clinical knowledge and understanding of pathology/physiology of disease processes required.
Solid computer proficiency required.
