Position: Regional Vision Care Coordinator
Location: Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland

Overview The Vision Center of Excellence (VCE) seeks a highly qualified Regional Vision Care Coordinator to support program management in enhancing vision care delivery across the Defense Health Agency (DHA). The role ensures timely, effective, and integrated vision care for Department of Defense (DoD) beneficiaries, coordinating among multiple specialists and facilities.
Key Responsibilities Support VCE program management, aligning with DHA strategic goals and vision care priorities.
Coordinate vision care referrals, patient follow-ups, movement, and care transitions across Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) and healthcare providers such as the VA.
Manage multidisciplinary care involving ophthalmology, optometry, and vision rehabilitation for patients requiring specialized services.
Monitor and track performance metrics related to vision care delivery and patient outcomes.
Ensure continuity of care by facilitating patient transfers between facilities and providers.
Maintain effective communication among healthcare providers, administrators, and patients.
Assist with strategic initiatives and special projects aligned with DoD vision health priorities.
Qualifications Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience as a healthcare coordinator, social worker, case manager, or registered nurse.
Proven ability to manage complex healthcare systems and patient workflows.
Experience with contract management or program oversight.
Understanding of DHA or similar healthcare systems preferred.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively across disciplines and stakeholders in a high-paced environment.
Preferred Skills Experience with DoD or VA health systems.
Knowledge of vision care specialties and referral processes.
Background in healthcare quality improvement or performance tracking.
