Description of Work This part‑time temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Transportation – DMV. The Medical Review Board Physician will serve in a mission‑critical position. The Medical Review Unit is the arm of Customer Compliance Services that is responsible for gathering and evaluating medical data of licensed drivers or applicants for driver licenses in the State of North Carolina, who are currently suffering from a medical condition that could negatively impact their ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. Over 21,000 reviews are conducted each year and the Medical Review Board conducts approximately 600 in‑person hearings each year.
Key Responsibilities Gather and evaluate medical data of licensed drivers.
Conduct in‑person hearings and present oral cases.
Document findings and compile clear concise notes for patient charts.
Management Preferences Thorough knowledge of general preventive medicine and related practices.
Ability to assess and interpret laboratory results and clinical data.
