The Medical Review Unit is part of Customer Compliance Services and handles medical data for licensed drivers or applicants for driver licenses in North Carolina.
Description Of Work The Medical Review Board Physician will serve in a mission critical position within the Department of Transportation - DMV. The Medical Review Unit gathers and evaluates medical data of drivers who may have conditions that affect safe operation of vehicles. The unit handles follow-up for over 170,000 citizens in the Medical Review Program, conducts more than 21,000 reviews annually, and performs approximately 600 in-person hearings each year. Citizens whose driving privilege is restricted or cancelled may request a hearing before a board of licensed medical professionals per NCGS 20-9.
