Position Summary
Under minimal administrative direction is responsible for the organization, management and direction of LMHS Hematology/Oncology Services. Must demonstrate good leadership and interpersonal skills to work closely with patients, visitors, physicians and other health care team members. Works collaboratively with the oncology providers to coordinate clinical and operational activities. Accountable to patient and family for care provided, and to the Assistant VP Laboratory & Oncology Services. Meets all the criteria/factors of the core values or competencies required by LMHS.
Responsibilities
Interview, hire, orient, schedule and assign work duties. Counsel and implement appropriate disciplinary action.
Evaluate patient care outcomes utilizing Quality Improvement process
Responsible for Commission on Cancer accreditation
Develop, review and enforce policy and procedure, JCAHO, DNV, and other standards of practice, and ISO business processes
Assist in the formulation and implementation of operational and capital budgets.
Develop staff performance goals and task inventories; evaluates completion of staff competency.
Conduct staff meetings on a regular basis.
Ensure departmental documents are in control
Plans and oversees the educational development for all staff members.
Analyze financial reports and takes action as necessary to improve efficiencies and lower costs.
Maintain inventory and upkeep of all necessary equipment, materials and supplies. Plans and maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment for patients and employees.
Oversee the maintenance of accurate patient records including demographics, charges, coding, and documentation, following all policies and procedures concerning coding and billing.
Promote guest relations within the department, health system and community by supporting and demonstrating "Service Excellence" throughout the organization
Participate in committees and community programs as requested in order to promote better public relations within the health system and community.
Ensure that personal and staff performance reflects the Mission, Vision, Standards of Behavior and the Service Goals.
Requirements
Oncology Nursing experience preferred.
Maintain a current R.N. license for the state of Ohio.
Demonstrate advanced communication skills, mathematical skills, and/or technical or specialized knowledge such as that which would be required in the first two years of college, technical school, or business school.
Demonstrate knowledge of the organization and operation of a department for which (s) he assumes responsibility and knowledge of the business and clinical operations generally acquired through two years or more of experience.
Ensure ISO Business Processes, JCAHO, DNV, and other regulatory standards are followed
Demonstrate analytical abilities and problem-solving skills necessary to oversee and organize the work of others, develop a budget, and implement administrative and clinical policies and procedures.
Demonstrates interpersonal skills and sensitivity sufficient to interact effectively and efficiently with customers, their families, physicians, hospital, and outside agencies. Acts as the primary agent to effectively deal with customer issues or complaints.
Demonstrates leadership through standards of behavior, coaching skills, strategic thinking, financial management, conflict management, delegation, change management, communication skills, group process skills and systems thinking.
Demonstrates ability to proficiently operate various office machines including a personal computer, office computer systems (EMR), scanner fax, telephone, and photocopier.
LMH is accredited by DNV and TJC, and as such, may require specific annual education related to specialty certifications and standards.
