Nurse (Quality Improvement and Infection Control Nurse) Serves as a Quality Improvement and Infection Control Nurse in the Health Services Department of a Bureau of Prisons (BOP) federal correctional facility.
Responsibilities include:
Managing the local infection prevention and control program under the guidance of the national Infection Prevention and Control Officer, Office of Quality Management, Central Office, Washington, D.C.
Performing quality improvement activities to enhance healthcare outcomes.
Conducting surveillance of infections and diseases, managing the tuberculosis prevention and control program, and investigating and containing infectious disease outbreaks.
Implementing infection prevention activities including immunization administration and tracking for inmates and staff.
Providing education related to infection control practices.
Collecting and analyzing data to reduce risk and improve health outcomes.
Notifying the national Infection Prevention and Control Officer and public health authorities about reportable infectious conditions.
All correctional institution employees, including this role, are responsible for maintaining the security of the institution. Security responsibilities take precedence and are performed on a regular basis.
