The Case Manager is a critical position at Morris House’s 90‑day residential Recovery House, responsible for providing recovery‑oriented services to individuals with substance use disorders and/or co‑occurring disorders. The role includes direct service (assessment, individual, family and group education, discharge planning) and indirect service (supervision, staff meetings, paperwork). The goal is to help clients achieve optimal quality of life while transitioning successfully into the community.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with clients to identify service and support needs, conduct intake assessments, and develop recovery plans addressing employment, education, self‑management, relapse prevention, and social skills.

Assist clients in accessing services that enhance independent participation in social, familial, and community activities, and develop self‑advocacy skills.

Facilitate psycho‑educational groups on life skills, family unification, parenting, job search, anger management, relapse prevention, stress management, and spiritual support.

Advocate for clients in community settings, accompanying them to appointments, court appearances, housing searches, and basic needs acquisition.

Develop discharge plans and confirm referrals to appropriate aftercare services in collaboration with referral sources.

Ensure client safety in residential components, including client counts, supervised smoke breaks, meal prep, room checks, and supervision of downtime.

Supervise self‑administration of medication and drug screening during shifts.

Represent the agency at community outreach events and functions.

Maintain documentation in compliance with all agency policies and procedures.

Build positive working relationships with management, coworkers, referral sources, community providers, and clients, using a person‑centered team approach.

Coordinate with the treatment team to ensure holistic, culturally sensitive care.

Participate in supervision, meetings, agency committees, and work groups as assigned; attend trainings as directed by leadership.

Complete any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Associate degree with experience in substance use and dual diagnosis, or Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) preferred.

Flexible, highly motivated, good judgment, capable of working independently.

Solid computer skills and interest in multidisciplinary teamwork.

Training in Motivational Interviewing and Mental Health First Aid is a plus.

Valid driver’s license with clean DMV record, reliable transportation, and valid auto insurance.

CPR/first‑aid certification, obtained and maintained.
