Overview The Medication Care Manager is responsible for providing the highest degree of quality care and services by administering medication and treatments in a safe, organized manner. Responsibilities include administration of medications, documentation of medication administration, and providing resident care while aligning with the Sunrise Senior Living mission to champion the quality of life for all seniors, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and Sunrise policies.
Responsibilities
Medication Administration: provide the highest degree of quality care by administering medications and treatments safely and in an organized manner.

Documentation: review, read, notate, and initial the electronic health record to document pertinent information about residents; document and initial medications as given and for refusals or missed doses.

Coordination: receive medication updates from the Resident Care Director (RCD) or Wellness Nurse; count narcotics with another MCM or Lead Care Manager each shift and report discrepancies.

Medication safety: ensure medications are passed according to times, follow the Six Rights of Medication Pass, maintain medication rooms and carts, restock as needed, and assist in checking medications.

Resident care: help residents maintain independence, promote dignity and safety, and respond empathetically to each resident’s communication needs.

Safety and compliance: follow infection control techniques, PPE usage, fire/SDS procedures, and hazardous materials handling; report accidents, unsafe conditions, and occupational exposures immediately; store oxygen tanks safely and monitor prescribed levels.

Team collaboration: participate in daily Cross Over meetings, contribute to Individualized Service Plans, and participate in team goals and engagement activities.

Qualifications
High School diploma or GED (as required by state/provincial regulations); maintain applicable certifications (e.g., CPR and First Aid).

Minimum age 18; prior experience working with seniors preferred.

Desire to serve and care for seniors; ability to drive Sunrise vehicle if applicable and sign Driver job description for safety and regulatory compliance.

Required Training and Certifications
CPR and First Aid; ongoing training and re-education as required by Sunrise and state/provincial regulations.

Compensation Base pay range: $19.65/hr - $24.65/hr. Compensation is based on geographic location, skills, experience, and certifications.
