Responsibilities Medication Administration Provide the highest degree of quality care and services by administering medication and treatments in a safe, organized manner.
Review, read, notate, and initial the electronic health record to document and learn about pertinent information about residents.
Receive medication updates from the Resident Care Director (RCD) or Wellness Nurse.
Administer, assist with, and observe medications and treatments for each resident using the medication administration record and the Six Rights of Medication Pass (Right resident, Right medication, Right dosage, Right time, Right route, Right to refuse).
Ensure medications are passed according to times and using the mobile med cart; document and initial as medications are given and record refusals or missed doses.
Maintain confidentiality of all resident information, including medication details.
Report resident concerns and unavailable medications to the RCD or Wellness Nurse.
Restock the medication cart after all passes; assist in checking medications regardless of packaging system.
Assess residents for as-needed medications and document/report appropriately to a supervisor.
Count narcotics with another Medication Care Manager (MCM) or Lead Care Manager (LCM) each shift and report discrepancies.
Maintain and clean the Medication Room, medication carts, and treatment carts; ensure medications are available and unexpired.
Follow the refill process for medications and notify the RCD or Wellness Nurse when a new prescription is needed.
Help residents maintain independence and promote dignity and safety, adhering to Sunrise Principles of Service.
Demonstrate empathy and adapt to each resident’s communication patterns, history, and needs.
Resident Care Communications Notify the RCD of resident and/or family concerns.
Attend and actively participate in daily Cross Over meetings facilitated by the LCM.
Participate in the development of the Individualized Service Plans (ISP).
Risk Management and General Safety Ensure the community complies with national/provincial regulations for occupational health and safety; promote Risk Management programs and policies; adhere to safety rules.
Practice safety procedures at all times, including use of PPE, fire safety equipment, SDS, and Lockout Tagout procedures.
Report all accidents/incidents and any unsafe or hazardous conditions or equipment immediately.
Keep cords, carts, and equipment out of walkways and exits; comply with fire codes.
Follow infection control techniques and proper handling and disposal of infectious waste and hazardous materials.
Understand exposure risks and report exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals immediately.
Ensure oxygen tanks are stored safely; monitor prescribed oxygen levels.
Training and Team Contribution Participate as a team member and work toward team goals; demonstrate Sunrise Team Member Credo and Principles of Service.
Contribute to engagement programs and participate in surveys and improvement workshops.
Attend regular meetings and trainings as directed; maintain compliance with required trainings for Sunrise standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Strong written and verbal communication; good judgment and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications High School diploma/GED; may be required by state/provincial regulations
Maintain required certifications where applicable (e.g., CPR and First Aid)
Must be at least 18 years of age
Previous experience working with seniors preferred; desire to serve and care for seniors
If applicable, drivers of Sunrise vehicles must sign the Driver job description and meet safety/regulatory requirements
