Basic Purpose of Position: Leads toll collection activities at the bridges by scheduling lane assignments for the collectors, oversees that toll revenues are properly collected and monitors the safety of the collections operations.

Major Responsibilities and Duties Description of Task
Schedule lane assignment and breaks for Toll Collectors and keep associated records such as absenteeism, illness and injuries. Inspect Toll Collector’s appearance and fitness for duty.
Schedule requests for holidays and vacations for Toll Collectors within the DRPA manpower scheduling guidelines and respond to telephone calls from Toll Collectors for requests for time off. Approve Toll Collectors daily work hours in SAP.
Oversee the work activity of part-time and temporary Toll Collectors furnished by the part-time vendor and communicate with the vendor Project Manager as required. Approve vendor employee time with submitted vendor invoices.
Receive, review, and respond to motorist’s complaints and inquiries, i.e. incorrect change, traffic conditions, or conflicts between employees and motorists. Accountable for resolving conflicts between Toll Collectors.
Patrol the lanes to oversee and ensure the safety of the Toll Plaza. Assist in maintaining a safe and secure work environment by participating in required training, recognizing and reporting hazards and suspicious activity, and using all necessary personal protective equipment.
Oversee the proper handling of all revenues during shifts assigned and ensure accurate deposit of Authority revenue.
Responsible for overseeing the proper operation of the traffic and toll booth surveillance video during an assigned shift and monitoring Toll Collector activity on toll booth video.
Coordinate with other Plaza Supervisors in matters relating to Toll Collector manpower requirements in order to manage overtime and adequate staffing levels. Plaza Supervisors are required to work all toll shifts and all bridge facilities at any time as required and will be required to periodically work overtime to assure shift supervisory coverage.
Cooperate with other departments of the DRPA including, but not limited to, processing daily paperwork and reports with Revenue Audit.
Assist and support the Toll Manager when necessary and provide information and input to the Toll Manager on a daily basis. Ensure compliance of all Authority rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Complete performance reviews of Toll Collectors.
Responsible for processing permit and escort fees on oversized vehicles and performs credit card processing for toll collection. Check for accuracy of permits on the Automated Permit System.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Toll Collector EDUCATION/TRAINING/ EXPERIENCE Required:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Four (4) years prior experience as a toll collector or two (2) years prior experience as a toll collector and two (2) years supervisory experience in any field.
Computer proficiency and experienced with spreadsheet and word processing computer software.
Desired:
The ability to detect counterfeit money.
Experience in customer service.
