About the Role
The Clinical Supervisor is part of a 24/7 Mobile Crisis Response and Crisis Intervention Team, providing services to individuals of all ages experiencing mental health and/or substance use crises. Operating with significant independence, the Clinical Supervisor handles complex clinical and case management tasks under general direction. This role involves overseeing the clinical work of both licensed and unlicensed clinicians, ensuring high-quality care for clients while supporting the professional growth of supervisees.

Monitor clinical documentation to ensure compliance with Medi-Cal and Fresno County DBH standards.

Assist with audit preparation and provide clinical education and training to staff.

Stay current on BBS licensure requirements for ACSWs, AMFTs, and APCCs; complete all CEU certification requirements.

Maintain knowledge of local resources for collaboration and care coordination.

Responsibilities

Meet weekly with unlicensed clinicians to provide individual and group supervision and verify clinical work and supervision hours toward licensure.

Participate in 24/7 on‑call rotation with other Fresno County crisis services clinical supervisors and program managers, and be available to provide clinical consultation during crisis calls.

Perform comprehensive intake assessments for persons with serious mental illness or serious emotional disturbance seeking Specialty Mental Health Services throughout the county using culturally sensitive, client/family‑centered, strength‑based, and wellness and recovery models.

Maintain professional and friendly interactions and collaboration with Fresno County DBH to meet contractual obligations.

Advocate and provide systemic support for client mental health and community activities.

Assist the Clinical/Program Manager and the treatment team in preparing for chart audits, developing and monitoring policies and procedures, and maintaining service logs and department statistics.

Maintain Microsoft Shift staff schedule and develop, provide, and participate in training on topics such as cultural competency, clinical practice, compliance, treatment planning, and case management.

Present to local agencies and community groups regarding mental health and substance abuse issues.

Stay current on legal and ethical standards for the profession and educate staff about changes in California laws affecting the mental health profession.

Maintain compliance and awareness of BBS licensing requirements for all AMFT, ACSW, and APCC clinicians.

Respond to risk situations with appropriate crisis intervention techniques and consult with the supervisor as required.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in psychology, social work, marriage and family counseling, or a related field.

LCSW or LMFT certification.

Class C3 driver’s license.

Minimum 2 years of professional experience in mental health counseling, psychotherapy, and related social services in a public or certified private welfare or health agency; 2 years post‑licensure.

1 year experience supervising/directing others.

Experience in risk assessment, crisis intervention, and safety planning is required.

Working knowledge of community and hospital resources.

Proficiency with Windows‑based computer applications: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet access.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills for developing and maintaining effective working relationships.

Ability to rapidly establish rapport to resolve crisis situations, assess potential for dangerousness to self or others, utilize technology for documentation, prioritize workload, and make differential diagnoses between substance abuse and psychiatric emergencies.
