Summary
The Clinical Informatics Specialist supports and coordinates all activities related to the implementation, optimization, and ongoing use of clinical information systems across the health system. This role serves as a vital liaison between clinical end‑users and Information Services & Technology, ensuring clinical systems are effectively used to enhance patient care, clinical workflows, and quality outcomes. As a change agent, this position will influence cultural shifts to improve clinician satisfaction, transform personalized patient care, maximize efficiency and usability, foster innovation, and advance healthcare technology.

Major Job Functions

Develop and maintain a deep understanding of clinical applications and how they support patient care.

Collaborate with clinical leaders to analyze workflows.

Document clinical workflows, business requirements, analyze baseline data and derive actionable insights.

Make recommendations and participate in the evaluation of new technology, techniques, and workflow processes to support clinical users.

Lead meetings and serve on workgroups or committees to design workflows, identify optimizations and help develop clinical decision support tools in alignment with evidence‑based practice, patient safety, and optimal user experience.

Serve as a liaison between clinical staff, IT, and vendors to translate clinical needs into system design and functionality.

Assist in the development of training materials, including user guides, tip sheets, and workflow scenarios, in collaboration with application and training teams and subject matter experts.

Coach and support clinical users during go‑lives, system changes, or when additional support is needed.

Deliver training for clinical system users across all phases of the application lifecycle, including onboarding, system upgrades, and optimization initiatives.

Identify and escalate system issues and collaborate on resolution with application teams and operational stakeholders.

Monitor the effectiveness of clinical systems and recommend continuous improvement strategies.

Minimum Qualifications
Education & Formal Training

Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Allied Health, or related clinical field required.

Epic Clinical Informatics certification required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.

Work Experience

2 years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting required.

1 year of experience with clinical information systems (preferably Epic) required.

Experience supporting system implementation, optimization, and/or training for clinical teams preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong understanding of clinical workflows and the role of informatics in improving patient care.

Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to translate clinical needs into technical requirements and vice versa.

Organized, analytical, and able to prioritize and manage multiple projects.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.

Strong computer literacy and ability to learn and support clinical software applications.

Commitment to continuous learning and process improvement.

Physical Requirements

Ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing.

Visual acuity to interact with screen‑based information and printed documents.

Manual dexterity for keyboard use and data entry.
