Responsibilities
Oversight and management of department operations and personnel
Assessment and division of total daily workload among Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists (CDIs) to provide an equal share of patient census, complexity of work, and ability to complete assignments
Monitoring of the daily work process for all team members
Facilitation of communication between Coders and the CDI team
Reconciliation of all CDI Charts reviews
Knowledge of Risk Adjustment, ICD-10, CPT, HCC’s, coding
Assist in facilitating the Physician/Providers' engagement and education
Assist the CDI Department in the facilitation of compliant physician queries
Accurate recording of the CDS impact on record
Advance Knowledge of current Medicare /Medicaid Rules and regulations
Communication with the Coding Manager and CDI Director on case resolution
Collaboration in planning, analysis, procedure changes, scheduling, and related administrative duties
Assists the CDI Director in the development of future policies and procedures
Facilitation of issue identification and resolution. Always deploy HIPAA Standard
Effective communication to teams and administration regarding any barriers to success identified within the CDI department
Management of staffing to ensure appropriate allocation and compliance with goals and objectives
Assessment, when necessary, of the equality of workload based on complexity and patient census
Monitoring and reporting of quality and financial performance in collaboration with Strategic Service Associates
Assurance of compliance with government health regulation, AHIMA, JCAHO guidelines, CMS, quality requirements, and customer service standards
Development, monitoring, and implementation of programs to enhance customer serviceDevelop skills and improve the scope of service for all CDI team members
Resolution of interdepartmental issues to ensure consistency in quality, procedure, and policy application
Participate in manager meetings and relevant committees as assigned by the Director
Identification of opportunities for intradepartmental and interdepartmental operational improvements
Reporting of CDI metrics to the director and organization leadership to demonstrate the impact of program
Maintenance of accurate records of chart review activities to comply with departmental and regulatory agency guidelines
Participate in daily workload and function in the role of Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist as necessary
Requirements
Required certification or license
Registered or Licensed Practical Nurse
Foreign graduate Medical DegreeMinimum five years of outpatient/inpatient CDI Experience
AHIMA CDIP/CCDS Certification
Experience in nursing preferred
Disease Process, Pathophysiology, three to five years
Minimum five years of supervisory or management experience in health care required
Must live in the state of Florida
Summary
Organization, daily oversight of processes, and monitoring and management of all members of the Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Team.
