Position overview Pathology Informatics supports St. Jude’s mission by delivering reliable, safe, and innovative laboratory information systems that clinicians, scientists, and patients can count on. The Clinical Applications Analyst II or Sr. Clinical Applications Analyst in Pathology Informatics is responsible for implementing, managing, and optimizing Pathology’s information systems assuring seamless integration with the electronic health record (EHR). The analyst partners with laboratory leadership, IS, and vendor teams to turn clinical workflows into resilient, CAP-aligned solutions. The role focuses on system/workflow integration, interface design and maintenance, upgrades, and validation/change control in adherence with best practices and standards.
Note: The position will work primarily on-site and rotate on-call after hours, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities Clinical Applications Analyst II: Assist in the design, configuration, validation, and maintenance of instrument and application interfaces for Pathology workflows in alignment with CAP and institutional standards.
Provide day-to-day support for pathology systems, ensuring reliability and optimal performance.
Maintain access controls, permissions, and audit artifacts per institutional policy.
Support system upgrades and enhancements by testing and validating changes in collaboration with technical teams and laboratory end users.
Participate in cross-functional meetings to elicit and understand business requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper integration of new and existing laboratory instruments and applications.
Adhere to change management processes with thorough documentation of validation testing, approvals, and implementation follow-up.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to instrument and application data interfaces and data transfer.
Monitor data integrity and validate the accuracy of data transferred between instruments/applications and LIS.
Conduct analyses to report emerging business/system/process needs; escalate complex problems when required.
Track and drive resolution of needs and requests with laboratory and partner IT teams.
Support education of departmental teams about strategy, services, and capabilities, and assist with change and project management communication.
Maintain relationships with key stakeholders and vendors, serving as frontline contact for customers.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Minimum Education and/or Training: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum Experience: Two (2) years of experience in a client-facing IT role. Experience with structured SDLC methodologies. Experience leading discussions, documenting business IT problem statements, business process design, and report requirements.
Salary and compensation Salary range: $70,720.00/yr. - $126,880.00/yr.
Compensation: In recognition of state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude provides a reasonable estimate of the compensation range. Offers depend on skills, experience, licensure, and other business needs. The current estimated range is $86,320 - $154,960 per year for the role of Clinical Applications Analyst II or Sr. Clinical Applications Analyst - Pathology Informatics.
Senior Role responsibilities Design, configure, validate, and maintain instrument and application interfaces for Pathology workflows in alignment with CAP and institutional standards.
Lead system upgrades and enhancements (test plans, IQ/OQ/PQ, regression testing, cutover, post-go-live monitoring).
Provide day-to-day support for pathology systems, ensuring reliability and optimal performance.
Mentor junior analysts and lead in meetings to elicit and understand business requirements.
Lead activities related to education of departmental teams around strategy, services, capabilities, change management, project management, and communication.
Act as a mentor to junior analysts and maintain relationships with stakeholders and vendors.
Minimum Education and/or Training Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business or related field required.
Master's degree preferred.
Minimum Experience Sr. Clinical Applications Analyst: 4+ years of experience in a comparable client-facing IT role. Experience with SDLC methodologies. Exposure to diverse business ecosystems in pharma/healthcare/research. Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical/system requirements and to lead discussions with mid- to senior-level leaders.
