Description The Child Welfare Case Manager (CWCM) works directly with families referred from the Department of Children and Families (DCF). The CWCM identifies and assesses client and family needs due to alleged abuse or neglect, with the goal of achieving permanency. Under supervision, the CWCM evaluates, coordinates and ensures necessary services; completes required assessments and judicial paperwork; assists individuals and families by delineating alternatives, problem solving, articulating goals and providing needed information. The CWCM must complete the Florida Child Welfare Practice Pre-service Training, pass the examination and all field-based requirements, and demonstrate proficiency to achieve the Florida Certification Board’s Child Welfare Case Manager Certification within 1 year from completion of the Pre-service Training examination.
Essential duties and responsibilities Attend formal instruction (Phase I Child Welfare Practice Pre-service Training program).
After Phase I, enter Phase II with monitored field practice under supervision (may include):
Conduct child safety assessments.
Assess client needs and develop Safety Plans, DCF case plans and visitation plans.
Coordinate delivery of services, plan referrals and linkages to clients and families.
Monitor case plan task compliance and evaluate reports from multiple service providers.
Develop and maintain case and program documentation (Family safety assessments, Progress Updates, Home Studies, progress notes, court paperwork, etc.).
Prepare case/status reports and make recommendations/testify at court or before prescribed bodies regarding reunification, TPR or other permanency plans; appear in court.
Conduct diligent searches as required by Dependency laws.
Coordinate services with other professionals and paraprofessionals.
Conduct community outreach, as needed.
Provide specialized services such as detainment, interstate compact, post placement supervision, caregiver home studies, court testimony, TPR, and JR staffing.
Provide support to children, caregivers and family members to assure stable placement and timely permanency.
Assist family/caregivers in accessing subsidies, medical coverage and other needed services for children.
Coordinate cases with supervisor, team members, providers, DCF and attorneys.
Facilitate placement and independent living; assist in removing and placing children.
Assist in mediation staffing for reunification, TPR and detainment.
Arrange or provide transportation for clients when needed; arrange for drug/alcohol screens as necessary.
Provide on-call support as required or scheduled.
Participate in the Quality Improvement process; appear in court when required.
Compensation and benefits Starting salary: $50,000.00

Requirements Qualifications
Education and Experience
Option 1 : A Bachelor’s Degree for those without relevant professional experience in social work or human services.
Option 2 : An associate degree (or 60+ college credits) AND one of the following: two years of professional work experience or two years of full-time social work or human services experience. Examples of professional work experience include Guardian ad Litem, family support worker, teacher’s assistant, child care provider, therapeutic assistant, behavior health technician, family intervention specialist, home health aide, nurse, nursing facility staff, EMS, or other roles involving assessment of factors affecting trauma or protective capacities with children and families.
Option 3 : A high school diploma or GED with four+ years of full-time social work or human services experience.
Certificates, licenses, and registrations: Valid driver’s license in good standing; valid car insurance.
