Summary Residential program for adult residents which are state inmates classified to a work release/substance abuse program. Staff is accountable to carry out assigned duties relating to the treatment and security of the residence and residents while following established protocols and procedures approved by NJAC and the NJ Department of Corrections. Services include, but are not limited to intake/orientation, assessments, treatment planning, offender supervision, educational services, vocational/employment services, substance abuse and discharge planning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Ensure that each client is properly served and treatment is rendered in accordance to industry standards.
Ensure the development and implementation of: Client records include social histories, chronological reports, case summaries and other information as needed.
Comprehensive assessment and treatment plans for residents within established timeframes
Individual and group counseling
Effective crisis intervention and conflict resolution
Monthly behavioral evaluations
Conducting interventions
Individual/group lectures and didactic presentations
Participation in multidisciplinary case conferences and treatment plan reviews
Developing aftercare treatment plans, and all required documentation
Other areas of focus may include Alumni Services, Family Services Smoke Cessation, Orientation and HIV Services
Maintain client and staff confidentiality in compliance with administrative policies and procedures.
Assist participants in obtaining treatment, gainful vocational training, job training or employment.
Whenever appropriate, meet with the families of clients and provide referrals.
Provide appropriate advocacy and referrals for clients seeking housing, legal advice, etc., while encouraging and facilitating clients’ independent action.
Ensure contract violations are reported and addressed immediately
Review medication log for compliance
Perform Accountability Duties:
accounting for each resident in the facility and in the community on a “real time” basis
ensuring the safety and security of staff and residents in the Facility
providing supervision and surveillance of the residents, staff and visitors as well as the facility perimeter
ensuring that contraband is not brought into the facility
conducting facility searches
conducting urine monitoring
monitoring entry and egress of all residents and visitors
Plan: Complete required annual training in compliance with due dates
Participate in daily shift-change meetings, monthly staff meetings, house meetings, weekly treatment team/case conference meetings as well as semiannual training and meetings as scheduled.
Organize: Ensure that program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization and our funder; Ensure that program activities comply with all relevant professional and accreditation standards and licensure (ACA, PREA, DHMAS Licensure); Meet all required internal and external standards and policies.
Represent: Write reports on the program for management and funders as required; Communicate with management and funders as outlined in funding agreements; Ensure reports and supporting documentation for funders are prepared as outlined in funding agreements

Experience: Supervision responsibilities include: Residential clients
Education: Bachelor\'s degree from a four-year college or university in Human Services or Social Work field; or six years related experience and/or training in Human Services; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Clearances: Successfully pass Criminal, Education, Substance Use Testing and Driver Background checks conducted by the Organization and Funder; Maintain background free of infractions which may result in the termination of employment; Have access to an insured, registered vehicle; Possess a valid Driver’s License
Knowledge, skills and abilities: Knowledge of client groups and/or issues related to the program area; Working knowledge of social learning theory, cognitive-behavioral intervention and approaches, assessment and evaluation and demonstrated competencies in training, group interaction, and mentoring; Working with addictive personalities; basic understanding of human behavior; utilizing group dynamics to address special needs populations
Proficiency in the use of computers for: Word processing, Simple accounting, Databases, Spreadsheets, E-mail, Internet, Client Tracking Software

Working Conditions Typically an office and residential program environment, but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to nonstandard workplaces
A standard work week, but may be required to work some evenings and weekends to monitor program activities
Be on-call for any after-hours emergencies. Primary on-call services are rotated through case managers
