Overview Venice Community Housing Corporation (VCH) is a nonprofit organization that supports and builds equitable and inclusive communities by providing affordable housing with supportive services, education, employment programs, and public policy advocacy. VCH owns and manages 346 units of affordable and supportive housing and is in a growth phase with an additional 400 units in predevelopment/construction. The organization aims to challenge housing injustice, confront racism, and ensure access to healthy, safe, and affordable homes for all.
This role is part of the Resident Services Department, which provides programs and services to stabilize, engage, and empower residents of supportive and affordable housing and other program participants. Programs include intensive case management, educational workshops, tenant engagement, supportive services, referrals, and after-school programming.
Responsibilities Conduct intake and enrollment activities with eligible clients, including gathering eligibility documentation, completing project intake forms, authorizations, and enrolling into Intensive Case Management Services.
Assist at all levels of move-in to permanent housing, including document readiness, applications, paperwork, move-in coordination, and tenant orientation.
Perform initial comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments with quarterly updates.
In collaboration with the tenant, create a client-driven, person-centered Individual Service Plan (ISP) addressing short-term and long-term goals to be reviewed quarterly.
Provide field-based Intensive Case Management services in areas such as independent living skills, housing stabilization, money management, community integration, employment, benefits establishment, and linkage to community providers for issues like substance use, primary and mental health care, and other needs.
Use evidence-based practices in service delivery such as Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, and Housing First.
Mediates and advocates on behalf of the tenant to help obtain and maintain housing, health care benefits, entitlements, and transportation.
Maintain up-to-date tenant files with case notes, consents, ISPs, verifications, and general documentation.
Qualifications One to two years of experience in case management or related field; Bachelor’s degree in social science or related field, or equivalent work/lived experience, preferred.
One to two years of experience working with homeless individuals with substance use, mental health issues, and/or chronic health conditions.
Bilingual Spanish-English preferred, but not required.
Effective communication with diverse groups and with individuals who have experienced trauma.
Experience and knowledge of the Westside community and social services is a plus.
Valid California Driver License and proof of insurance, or other mode of transportation to facilitate movement between sites.
Ability to communicate through print: emails and letters.
Ability to work independently.
Salary and Benefits The starting salary range for the position is $50,000 to $55,000 per year. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, basic life, voluntary life, long-term disability, optional Aflac, 403(b) retirement plan, professional development budget, coaching programs, vacation and sick time, 15 paid holidays, and 2 personal days. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
Physical Requirements Stationary position about 40% of the time. Requires computer work and handling office equipment. May involve ascending/descending stairs and moving between sites, apartments, and buildings. Ability to move objects up to 25 pounds. Requires visual acuity for computer use, reading, writing, and conducting unit inspections.
