Position / Job Summary
The PRS Case Manager conducts in‑person home visits, assesses the needs of each assigned child, and makes referrals for unaccompanied immigrant children released from federal custody. The Case Manager completes required paperwork, conducts screenings and assessments, and collaborates with external partners including government agencies. Frequent travel by vehicle or airplane to visit clients’ homes is required.

Position / Job Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct home visits and phone contacts to evaluate safety and placement appropriateness with the UC’s sponsor and connect UC to community services.

Perform ongoing case management, focusing on screening and making appropriate referrals for placement, safety, education, health, mental health, legal/immigration, substance abuse, independent living, juvenile/criminal justice, and child enrichment activities.

Provide crisis intervention services directly or connect family to services to ensure minor’s safety in crisis situations.

Submit detailed documentation in accordance with agency and ORR requirements.

Utilize social work best practices for comprehensive assessment of a UC’s progress and services provided.

Carries a case load varying on program need (Staff‑to‑case ratios for Post Release Services Case Managers will establish caseloads of 1:25 but may with ORR’s permission have a case load that does not exceed 1:40).

Complete Notice of Concerns (NOCs) per federal policy requirements.

Maintain case file documentation in accordance with ORR requirements and conduct internal chart reviews to monitor documentation compliance.

Participate in team meetings, staff in‑service training, and department meetings.

Complete timely and accurate timesheets and other personnel/administrative records as required.

Other duties as assigned.

Demonstrate a commitment to developing thorough knowledge and application of the Sanctuary model and other organizational policies & practices.

Participate in staff development, in‑services, and training related to workplace effectiveness; model professional behaviours and implement improvements to business practices with awareness of their impact in a trauma‑informed behavioural healthcare organization.

Required Position Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (BSW) or an equivalent degree in education, psychology, sociology, or other behavioral science equivalent.

Bi‑lingual in Spanish and English, written, read and verbal; must clear a language test for Spanish.

Experience working with immigrant populations.

Attained age 21 years or older before first day of employment in the position (ORR).

1‑year of experience working with youth in a child welfare or social service setting.

Preferred Position Qualifications

Knowledgeable about family preservation, kinship care, and/or general child welfare.

Experience writing professional, thorough assessment reports.

ORR experience.

Knowledge of Federal, State and agency regulations.

Knowledge of adolescent developmental issues, trauma, abuse and neglect, substance abuse and dependence, delinquency, peer influence, and related group and individual interventions.

Other Requirements

Able to work shift hours and days, as assigned; position may require work outside of usual work hours on occasion.

Regular travel via airplane and/or car to visit sponsors and clients in their homes.

Traveling time accounts for nearly 50% of the position.

Traveling for Post Release Services Case Managers varies; some cases are local, but national travel is required if cases are not available locally.

Traveling for Home Study Case Managers accounts for 50% of the role.

Hold a valid driver’s license and maintain minimum auto insurance policy for driving a personal vehicle.

Pass a criminal history background check through Morrison and a suitability determination investigation via the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.

Current CPR and Standard First Aid required.

40 hours of required training per year.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Visual acuity allowing for analysis of written data.

Manual dexterity allowing for operation of routine office equipment (computers, telephone, fax, copy machine, typewriter, calculator, etc.).

Physical dexterity allowing for reaching, stooping, and repetitive motion of wrist, hand or fingers.

Ability to remain calm and emotionally available in an environment serving youth who have experienced trauma.
