Overview
This is an essential position which directly impacts the quality of life of each resident. Responsibilities include delivering personal care to residents, serving meals and snacks, assisting with activities and housekeeping as assigned. The Care Manager focuses on maintaining an environment for socialization and independence. All actions must display respect for residents, family members and staff.
Responsibilities
Ensure that the attainment of Victory Housing Mission Statement takes precedence over all decisions and actions.
Adhere to all Victory Housing policies and procedures, COMAR 10.07.14 regulations, and County, State and Federal guidelines including DOH, CDC, CMS and OSHA.
Implement universal precautions and infectious disease control protocols. Wear assigned PPE appropriately per policy and as requested.
Complete all assigned training including initial orientation, COMAR 10.07.14 requirements, monthly in-services, HIPAA, and required personal care and skills modules. Participate in safety and disaster drills as assigned.
Provide personal care, emotional support, and social stimulation to residents.
Utilize the Eldermark platform to adhere to assigned resident service delivery and daily tasks. Document completion of tasks using the assigned device.
Assist residents according to ISP and Care Tracker. Deliver care unique to each resident’s preferences, abilities and expectations. Services include but are not limited to:
Shower/bath as assigned
Dress or assist with dressing; assist with grooming
Brush hair; apply makeup
Brush teeth; clean dentures
Assist with shaving
Assist with toileting and reminders as needed
Make or assist with bed making; keep the resident’s room tidy and uncluttered
Perform housekeeping tasks in the resident’s suite as needed
Toileting documentation in Eldermark; notify Health, Wellness RN/LPN/Coordinator of any concerns
Serve meals in the dining room with hospitality and customer service; deliver meals on trays to residents in their suites if required
Dining Room Responsibilities
Assist residents to dining room, seat them, and ensure chairs are properly positioned
Set tables according to posted diagram; have beverages and condiments ready
Serve meals at safe and allowable temperatures; assist with second portions as needed
Provide beverage refills and assist with dessert options when appropriate
Assist with cleanup after meals and maintain dining area in a clean, safe condition
Restock dining stations and ensure supplies are available
Job Qualifications
One year of experience caring for geriatric residents. Certification as a nurse aide preferred.
Team player with good communication skills, caring attitude, and genuine concern for seniors.
Must speak, read, and write in English.
Must be current on all vaccinations including COVID-19 and CDC-recommended booster doses.
