This is a responsible position providing assistance and support to clients with substance use disorders who are receiving residential treatment services. The role delivers services tailored to each client’s needs to maximize adjustment and functioning within the community to achieve sobriety and sustained recovery, strengthens natural support systems, and promotes client independence and responsibility.

Essential Job Duties

Attend multidisciplinary treatment team meetings to identify processes and practices ensuring effective collaboration with internal and external healthcare providers.

Provide clear and concise reporting of consumer engagement and outcomes related to continuing care efforts.

Work directly with collaborating agencies and HCBC to ensure access to medication and treatment services that meet consumer needs.

Utilize motivational interviewing and other techniques to engage consumers in services using a client‑centered approach.

Attend periodic meetings with designated team members to review and update continuing care plans and treatment plans as applicable.

Contact consumers who have unexcused absences from the program to re‑engage and promote recovery efforts.

Arrange and refer consumers for services and resources; advocate on behalf of consumers to obtain necessary services.

Monitor service delivery by external providers, ensuring communication and coordination of services.

Provide information and education to individuals in accordance with their rehabilitation plans.

Record and report consumer participation, progress, and adjustment against treatment goals in a timely manner; maintain accurate records using the CareLogic system.

Develop and maintain effective, professional relationships with public assistance, social service organizations, and staff members.

Adhere to established ethical and behavioral standards of conduct and pursue continuing professional development.

May transport consumers to services and therapeutic activities as required.

Perform other related work as assigned.

Working knowledge of current resources available to persons with substance use disorders.

Basic knowledge of the healthcare system.

Experience and Education Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in social work, psychology, nursing, or a closely related field (preferred).

OR 4 years of qualifying experience in a related field (preferred).

OR Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of qualifying experience in a related field (preferred).

Qualifying experience must include some combination of: providing one‑on‑one or group services with a rehabilitation and recovery/resiliency focus; teaching and modeling for individuals how to cope and manage psychiatric, developmental or substance use issues while encouraging the use of natural resources; supporting efforts to find and maintain employment for individuals and/or to function appropriately in families, schools and communities; assisted individuals to achieve goals and objectives on their individualized treatment or person‑centered plans.

Necessary Special Qualifications
The candidate must be currently recognized by the Missouri Department of Mental Health as a Certified Missouri Peer Specialist or the Missouri Credentialing Board as a Missouri Recovery Support Specialist‑Peer. No candidate may be considered who is, or has been within the past two years, under the supervision of Federal, State, County, or Municipal Corrections Department, nor have any pending felony or misdemeanor charges other than minor traffic charges.

Driving may be required. The successful candidate must possess and maintain a valid, current driver's license, automobile insurance, and be insurable under the agency's motor vehicle insurance policy.

All candidates for employment must meet the established minimum qualifications for employment as identified by the applicable regulatory agencies.
