Overview Animal Care Manager role at Best Friends Pet Care.
Responsibilities Supervises assigned shifts and works with Animal Care Technicians to maintain a clean, safe environment for our pet guests.
Monitors and motivates animal care staff, reports absences/tardies; counsels as necessary.
Schedules animal care staff to ensure quality service.
Ensures all suites are sanitized/disinfected for new arrivals.
Provides clean bedding and fresh water to each new pet guest.
Directs the cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting of all used dog suites and cat condos.
Makes sure each boarded animal receives the correct type and quantity of food each meal.
Ensures pets have clean water at all times.
Makes sure each pet receives proper diet each day.
Monitors and accurately charts consumption and elimination of each and every pet guest.
Accurately administers medications as directed.
Performs walk-throughs each day to ensure pet guest safety and well-being in the boarding areas.
Cleans up pet excrement as needed.
Oversees activities as needed (or oversees Activities Supervisor); performs activities as needed.
Monitors pet belongings; ensures return of pet belongings to owners.
Maintains kitchen in a clean, orderly manner; oversees and performs daily laundering of pet bedding and towels.
Maintains inventory of supplies; orders supplies as needed; stores owner-brought pet food in the kitchen as needed.
Sees to the safe handling of all boarding pet guests; enforces safe handling procedures.
Monitors physical plant needs in the boarding areas and performs basic repairs as needed; reports all other needed repairs to Center Manager.
Ensures a pet guest report is completed and given to the owner for every pet guest.
Supports the Mission and Philosophy of Best Friends Pet Care, Inc.
Treats customers, guests and co-workers in a professional, courteous manner; greets all customers encountered while performing work duties.
Assists other Associates as needed; performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education High School Graduate or Equivalent
Experience Minimum of professional 1 year animal care/kennel experience.
Physical Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Must be able to frequently lift 40 pounds.
Must be able to be on feet eight hours per day.
Must be able to stand, walk, and climb stairs frequently.
Must be able to work on computer system.
Must be able to handle dogs on leashes.
Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander and excretions.
Personal Must have the ability to resolve problems quickly and professionally.
Must have the ability to supervise, motivate and counsel Associates.
Must have strong communication skills.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
Must possess a love of animals.
Displays a professional manner at all times.
