This role supports multiple external clients in designing, validating, and optimizing EHR data extracts. You will operate with a high degree of independence, lead complex client engagements, and provide strategic guidance while still remaining hands on with data and technical development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Leadership & Strategic Guidance

  • Serve as the primary consultant for multiple clients, providing expert‑level guidance on EHR data structures, reporting capabilities, and best practices.
  • Lead requirements‑gathering sessions and translate complex clinical and departmental workflows into actionable technical specifications.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring satisfaction, transparency, and long‑term partnership.
  • Anticipate client needs and proactively recommend solutions, improvements, or new data opportunities.

Advanced Data Extraction & Technical Development

  • Design, build, and optimize sophisticated EHR data extracts, with emphasis on Epic Clarity/Caboodle or Cerner CCL/HealtheIntent.
  • Develop and refine SQL queries, data models, and extract logic to support analytics, reporting, and operational use cases.
  • Ability to handle large-scale EHR datasets, ensure data integrity, completeness, and consistency
  • Troubleshoot complex data issues and collaborate with internal engineering teams to enhance data pipelines and performance.
  • Adapt solutions to diverse client environments, EHR vendors, and module configurations.

Data Validation & Quality Assurance

  • Lead validation efforts to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of extracted EHR data.
  • Conduct advanced root‑cause analysis on data discrepancies and guide clients through remediation strategies.
  • Establish and maintain validation frameworks, documentation, and repeatable processes for long‑term data quality.
  • Ensure all work adheres to healthcare data governance, privacy, and security standards.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Collaborate with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders across client organizations.
  • Provide training, documentation, and knowledge transfer to empower clients in understanding and using their data.
  • Mentor junior consultants, contribute to internal best practices, and support continuous improvement across the consulting team.
  • Participate in solution design discussions and help shape the consulting practice’s methodology and standards.

Qualifications

  • 5 years experience working in an informatics related role within a healthcare institution (hospital, health system, etc).
  • Deep understanding of radiology and procedural workflows
  • Epic experience strongly preferred — Clarity, Caboodle, Chronicles, Reporting Workbench, or Cogito tools. Cerner experience (CCL, Discern, HealtheIntent) also considered.
  • Advanced SQL skills and strong understanding of relational database architecture and data modeling.
  • Experience with EHR software, data management systems, and clinical information databases.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, ICD‑10, CPT, LOINC) is a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously with minimal oversight.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Prior consulting experience or experience leading cross‑functional projects is highly valued.
