Work location: This is a remote/telework work position.

Work hours: Monday – Friday from 8am – 5p

Here’s What You Need

  • Associate’s degree in nursing required or
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
  • 3 years experience as an RN in a clinical setting required
  • 1 year auditing/abstraction experience preferred
  • AHA GWTG – Stroke Registry Abstraction experience preferred
  • Texas RN license upon hire required

     

What You Will Do

Responsible for the review and abstraction of clinical data from patient medical records for the purposes of submission to the appropriate regulatory and/or registry reporting databases. Responsible for helping ensure compliance with nationally recognized quality patient care processes and clinical outcomes. This position requires attention to detail and the ability to function well, both independently and within a team environment, under deadline commitments and standard productivity expectations.

  • Abstraction of clinical data from the medical record into the appropriate database(s) using appropriate guidelines and specification manuals. Validates cases to ensure they meet inclusion criteria. Maintains productivity standards and accuracy expectations for abstraction. Ensures protected health information following all HIPPA laws and THR Protocols.
  • Submission of abstracted data according to established deadlines. Ensures data is complete and accurate prior to submission following policies and procedures. Takes appropriate action to resolve data discrepancies.
  • Collaboration with appropriate team members and/or stakeholders (Data Integrity, Coding, Service Lines) to resolve data discrepancies and obtain missing documentation. Participation on various multi-disciplinary teams for the purposes of assisting with identifying performance improvement opportunities.
  • Participation in continuing education for patient populations and regulatory/accreditation updates. Assists with ad-hoc projects and assignments as needed.
