Position SummaryThe Turf Care Manager is responsible for overseeing the health, maintenance, and performance of turf areas across commercial, recreational, or sports properties. This role ensures optimal turf quality through planning, staff supervision, and implementation of industry-standard horticultural practices, while maintaining safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities1. Turf Management & Maintenance
- Develop and implement turf care programs including mowing, fertilization, irrigation, aeration, pest management, and soil health practices.
- Monitor turf health and soil conditions regularly to prevent disease, pest infestations, or nutrient deficiencies.
- Recommend and implement best practices to improve turf quality, resilience, and aesthetics.
2. Team Leadership & Staff Management
- Supervise turf care crew members, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring adherence to company standards.
- Train staff in proper equipment operation, safety protocols, and horticultural practices.
- Assist in hiring and onboarding new turf maintenance staff.
3. Equipment & Resource Management
- Maintain and manage turf maintenance equipment, ensuring proper operation, storage, and scheduling of repairs.
- Oversee inventory of fertilizers, chemicals, and other turf care materials.
4. Budgeting & Financial Oversight
- Assist in planning and managing turf care budgets, including labor, equipment, and materials.
- Identify opportunities to optimize costs without compromising turf quality.
5. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all turf maintenance activities comply with local environmental and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and enforce safe work practices among staff.
6. Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain detailed records of turf care activities, schedules, and treatments.
- Prepare reports on turf health, maintenance outcomes, and operational efficiency for management review.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field (preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in turf management, landscaping, or groundskeeping, preferably in commercial or sports turf settings.
- Knowledge of turfgrass species, fertilizers, irrigation systems, pest management, and disease control.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Familiarity with budget management and reporting.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 annually
