Overview The Senior Clinical Informatics Consultant supports the Clinical Informatics program and the CMIO Office, collaborating with clinical users, Clinical Informaticists, and Information Management to improve care through the electronic health record (EHR). Applies expertise in technology to enhance quality, safety, and efficiency of care delivery by implementing improvements in clinical information systems to support clinical care delivery. Understands patient care, human factors, and process improvement methodologies; applies knowledge toward effective design, development, and implementation of clinical informatics tools. Serves as a liaison between Information Management and clinical staff and reports to the Manager, Clinical Informatics. The role reflects the mission, values, and ethics of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and complies with applicable policies and regulatory standards.
Essential Job Functions Supports Lurie Children’s Clinical Informatics program, adhering to national standards and best practices, incorporating customer feedback and performance data.
Collaborates with Clinical Informatics leadership to identify and prioritize informatics-related initiatives aligned with organizational priorities.
Analyzes clinical care processes for potential improvements; creates targeted action plans to optimize performance and utilization of key clinical informatics tools.
Gathers information from users, defines problems, and develops technology-based improvements; measures outcomes related to interventions.
Contributes to the design and implementation of EHR interventions that enhance workflow efficiency, promote effective use of system functionality, and ensure accurate, structured capture of clinical data.
Reviews documentation for upgrades and system updates related to clinical informatics activities; evaluates changes and impacts with IM and Clinical Informatics leadership.
Collaborates with Epic Training Team on tools and resources to help clinicians effectively use the EHR and disseminates resources through the CMIO Office.
Supports Medical Center priorities by implementing informatics-related initiatives and driving improvements in processes and systems.
Maintains and disseminates guidelines and best practices related to clinical informatics and priority initiatives.
Drives adoption and effective use of technologies among providers to enhance clinical workflows and patient care.
Demonstrates project management proficiency; participates in projects as directed and independently leads clinical informatics initiatives.
Performs duties with a service-oriented mindset focused on innovation, service excellence, teamwork, and high-quality patient care.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in health informatics or a health-related field preferred.
Current Epic certification in clinical module required, or ability to complete certification within six months of employment.
Minimum 5 years of informatics or healthcare IT experience; healthcare informatics preferred.
Strong self-direction with excellent organizational, analytical, writing, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to evaluate, document, and recommend improvements for clinical workflows.
Proficiency in presenting and interacting with medical staff and management at all levels.
Excellent project management and business analysis skills; familiarity with process improvement methods (DMAIC, PDSA, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) is desirable.
Familiarity with data management and basic reporting, including interpreting and summarizing statistical and medical data.
Education Bachelor's Degree (Required). Master’s degree preferred in health informatics or related field.
Pay Range $99,840.00-$164,736.00
