Blue Cross of Idaho is seeking a seasonal Medical Record Abstractor that will conduct a comprehensive review of medical records in accordance with NCQA guidelines and HEDIS technical specifications.
Seasonal role through April/May 2026.
This position can be remote within a mutually acceptable location.
We’re Looking For a Medical Record Abstractor With
Experience: 3 years health‑related, medical record review, or relevant experience to include medical terminology.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare, Science, Nursing, Social Work or related field; or equivalent work experience (Two years’ relevant work experience is equivalent to one-year college).
Preferred License: Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Medical Assistant.
What a day of a Medical Record Abstractor would look like
With a high level of accuracy, interpret relevant clinical criteria through review of medical records.
Review and interpret HEDIS technical specifications (training is provided).
Review assigned medical records and abstract clinical data elements for HEDIS reporting.
Enter data collected into HEDIS platform (Inovalon).
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Review Idaho Health Data Exchange for pertinent medical records.
Remotely access assigned Electronic Health Records to abstract medical records.
Collaborate with abstraction and administrative team to ensure a successful HEDIS audit.
As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range is $71,708 to $100,391. The position is eligible for an annual incentive bonus (variable depending on company and employee performance).
