RN Wound Care Coordinator
In keeping with the Dignity Health core values, the Wound Ostomy Nurse Specialist is responsible for, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating wound and ostomy care at St. John's Regional Medical Center and St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital. Directs staff member's performance of wound care. Conducts education classes, acts as a consultant on wound care. Maintains and updates the skin care protocol. Works with ostomy patients to coordinate care, education and training. Oversees the use of specialty beds. Coordinates patient and family education including maintenance of educational materials and coordination of all inservice and education programs through the education department. This position is accountable for those functions, which enhance the delivery of Wound and Ostomy care through such activities as assessment, education, standards and program development, quality improvement activities, consultation and care management.
Minimum Requirements:
- Three (3) years of clinical experience required, with experience in wound and ostomy care, and PICC line insertion
- Current California Registered Nurse license.
- Current CPR certification.
- Applies nursing and team processes.
- Demonstrates a caring compassionate attitude toward others.
- Knowledge of wound and ostomy care.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for Wound and Ostomy care.
- Demonstrates effective problem-solving techniques including conflict management skills.
- Knowledge and utilization of CQI and methodologies and computer skills. Organizes and prioritizes work efficiently.
- Demonstrates clear and effective written and oral English language skills and objective active listening skills.
- Knowledge of the concepts of change theory and the ability to identify the need for change as well as the ability to apply these principles.
- Ability to act as a role model and resource for all members of the interdisciplinary care team.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others across all departments.
- Ability to achieve results for the organization with and through people, utilizing creative and innovative solutions, conflict management and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Certificate of care specialist preferred.
