Full Time - Mon. - Fri - Dayshift

As part of the Meritus Nursing Education team working in the ED, the clinical educator plays a vital role in shaping the next generation of emergency care professionals. Position Summary:

The Clinical Educator in the Emergency Department designs, organizes, implements, and evaluates educational programs—including orientations, continuing education, and in-services that promote the professional growth, skill development, and competency of nursing staff. This role ensures the attainment and maintenance of standards of care for direct care providers within the Nursing Department.

The RN Clinical Educator also serves as a clinical resource and role model, fostering evidence-based practice and lifelong learning among nursing staff. The educator adheres to ethical principles of practice as defined by the Nurse Practice Act and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.

Design, plan, and deliver educational programs and clinical competency assessments for nursing staff in the Emergency Department.

Coordinate and facilitate orientation and onboarding for new clinical staff.

Evaluate the effectiveness of educational initiatives through feedback, outcomes measurement, and ongoing staff development needs assessments.

Collaborate with nursing leadership and multidisciplinary teams to ensure staff competency aligns with departmental and organizational goals.

Serve as a clinical expert and mentor for nurses, supporting skill advancement and adherence to current evidence-based practices.

Maintain accurate educational records and documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.

Support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives within the Emergency Department.

Qualifications:

Education:

BSN required.

MSN required (must be obtained within five years if not currently held).

Master’s in Nursing Education preferred.

Experience:

Minimum five (5) years of recent experience in an acute care setting, with at least three (3) years in the specialty area (Emergency Department preferred).

Licensure/Certification:

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maryland or eligible to practice in Maryland through a compact/ multistate license.

National certification in a clinical specialty preferred (or within one year of eligibility).

BLS (CPR) certification required per policy.

ACLS, PALS, NRP, or other specialty certifications required in accordance with supported clinical units.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Advanced computer literacy and proficiency with educational technology and learning management systems.

Ability to motivate and inspire professional staff toward continuous learning and improvement.
