Responsibilities Assess department needs for training and respond accordingly.
Orient new staff members and provide ongoing training for employees.
Schedule training programs and in-services for all employees.
Deliver lectures and demonstrate procedures using motion pictures, DVDs, and charts; use outside consultants and speakers when possible.
Observe employees in practical application of procedures and provide one-to-one training as needed.
Supervise the use of company-provided online education and monitor compliance.
Schedule facility tours and provide administration staff with overall operation orientation.
Develop recruitment strategies for all positions.
Assist with selection of open positions.
Maintain appropriate documentation of orientation and in-service training for all employees.
Follow up with new employees at regular intervals to determine need for additional training and support.
Communicate department needs to the Administrator and coordinate services within department needs, scheduling, and budget.
Provide input to the Administrator regarding budget needs.
Coordinate employee service awards and recognition programs.
Monitor safe working practices; provide education and coordinate with the Safety Committee for corrective and preventive actions.
Maintain effective communication with residents, families, and facility staff.
Communicate with and educate staff on any new procedures.
Assist with the development of procedures using job analysis techniques.
Assist with the Continuous Quality Improvement Program as needed.
Stay current in standard practices through communication with health departments and other relevant agencies.
Ensure orientation to Electronic Medical Records system with periodic review for proper documentation.
Qualifications Current licensure by State Board of Nursing or certified or licensed Risk Manager with at least two years of long-term care experience.
Demonstrated success in activities dealing with the communication of technical ideas and concepts.
Teaching/instructional experience preferred.
