The Case Manager serves as the primary clinical contact for injured workers, coordinating care and facilitating safe, timely return‑to‑work outcomes. This role involves assessing treatment plans, collaborating with medical providers, employers, and insurers, and ensuring quality, compliance, and effective communication across all parties. The Case Manager must exercise strong clinical judgment, organizational skills, and maintain confidentiality.
Qualifications A current, unrestricted Ohio state licensure or certification in a health or human services discipline that allows independent assessment within the scope of practice.
Eligibility to hold multi‑state licenses as needed to meet company requirements.
Two years full‑time equivalent of direct clinical care to consumers.
Prefer a minimum of one (1) year of active case management experience in workers’ compensation.
Maintains continuing education as required to maintain licensure and certification.
Excellent leadership, verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and solid decision‑making and judgment.
Responsibilities Report directly to the Case Management Team Lead.
Act as the first post‑injury contact after triage, developing and managing return‑to‑work opportunities with injured workers, designated network providers, and employer contacts.
Assess appropriateness of care level, diagnostic tests, and clinical procedures for utilization review concurrently.
Coordinate with the Utilization Review team on C‑9 treatment plans/vocational rehab plans until completion.
Identify and report quality and clinical risk issues when recognized.
Ensure medical records are complete and documented accurately.
Obtain and interpret information relevant to injured workers’ needs for assessment, treatment, and patient care services.
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized plans of care.
Communicate consistently with injured workers, employers, providers, BWC, and TPA, including attorneys for IW/employer contacts.
Provide education and guidance to all claim parties, including staff members and five‑point contact members.
Maintain a positive work atmosphere and support overall team collaboration.
Apply effective problem identification and resolution skills for sound decision making.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Work independently, efficiently, and manage priorities.
