Base pay range
$37.50/hr – $56.25/hr

Location & Schedule

Location: Western Suburbs (Maywood, Bellwood, Melrose Park, Forest Park, Westchester, Broadview, Hillside, Berkley, Elmhurst, Berwyn, Cicero)

Hours: Days with rotation to weekdays and holidays

Sign‑On Bonus: Up to $10,000.00, subject to taxes and eligibility for external candidates only

Major Responsibilities

Nurse/Patient Relationship

Develops and maintains a therapeutic relationship throughout the healthcare continuum.

Demonstrates adaptive communication styles based on individual patient needs.

Provides individualized care to promote physical and psychosocial comfort.

Assesses patient and family readiness, involves them in planning and care, seeks consultation as needed.

Incorporates an individualized, holistic approach in the plan of care.

Assuring/Improving Quality Care

Facilitates the patient and family's right to receive quality, cost‑effective care.

Mobilizes appropriate resources in response to situations that may negatively impact outcomes.

Adapts practice to latest standards from evidence‑based literature.

Participates in quality/process improvement initiatives.

Works to reduce risk and improve patient safety.

Meets regulatory and mandatory requirements on the unit.

Patient/Staff Education

Demonstrates commitment to meeting learning needs of patients and families.

Utilizes appropriate resources to achieve positive patient outcomes.

Assists in creating an environment that promotes educational growth for nursing peers.

Assesses patient and family readiness to learn, modifying approach as needed.

Seeks out opportunities to enhance knowledge, skill, competence of department members.

Nursing Process

Demonstrates nursing process as a problem‑solving model.

Recognizes changes in clinical situations, evaluates, implements changes to the plan of care.

Consistently makes sound clinical decisions; cares for patients with complex problems.

Prioritizes and organizes patient care and ensures follow‑through.

Initiates referrals and discharge planning; actively coordinates inter‑disciplinary approach.

Applies ethical decision‑making.

Monitors confidentiality and ensures appropriate business conduct.

Delegates correctly to unlicensed assistive personnel.

Seeks resources for disruptive behavior that impedes care delivery.

Leadership/Collaboration/Professional Development

Demonstrates respect and understanding for peers and other clinical disciplines; collaborates to formulate integrated care.

Participates in unit meetings and activities improving patient care or administration.

Utilizes available resources to maintain current knowledge base.

Demonstrates effective communication, feedback, conflict‑resolution skills; promotes collaboration.

Critiques own nursing practice, achieves required certifications or Bachelor’s Degree.

Minimum 10 contact hours per year.

Licensure

Registered Nurse (RN)

Education / Experience Required

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

Earn 10 continuing education credits annually.

One year medical‑surgical experience.

Demonstrated proficiency for RN role requirements.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Good documentation skills.

Computer skills.

Good time management and organizational skills.

Familiarity with patient care equipment.

Current Illinois RN license.

Current CPR certification.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Work weekends, holidays, shifts, and on‑call assignments as needed.

Handle multiple tasks and complete work within short timeframes.

Transport patients, objects, equipment.

Respond quickly to patient needs; work at a fast pace.

Environment may expose to adverse, hazardous, unpleasant conditions while caring for the sick.

Routine work with potentially infectious specimens and patients.

Respond to patients timely and access all areas of the unit.

Lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and/or 50+ pounds frequently; may lift up to 200 pounds with assistance; use patient handling equipment when required.

Travel within Advocate service area under various weather conditions; may need to assist ambulation including turning.

Occasional overtime; visits to private residences potentially not accessible to people with disabilities.

Compensation & Benefits
Annual base salary: $74,672 – $112,112
