Job Description
The registered nurse assumes principal responsibility for the total care of assigned clients in the respective unit. This nurse is responsible for assessment, reassessment, establishment of nursing diagnoses, formulation of the written plan of care, implementation of care, and evaluation of care. The nurse initiates health care training and education to the client/family as required, supporting the goals of Andalusia Health and the Department of Nursing. The registered nurse demonstrates awareness of ongoing needs of the unit and provides leadership and direction to other team members to maintain optimal standards of nursing care. This position is accountable for supervising other licensed and non-licensed nursing personnel for assigned units. Flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns, including weekends and holidays, are required to ensure continuity of care and appropriate nursing coverage for all patients. The nurse is responsible for providing care to a diverse patient population, considering age-specificity and diagnosis.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: Associate's degree required

Required Skills: Ability to function in stressful situations, effective verbal communication, responsibility and accountability in nursing care, leadership qualities, and full implementation of the nursing process considering patient age and diagnosis.

Certifications: BLS, ACLS (required within 6 months of employment)

Licenses: Current RN license in Alabama

Additional Requirements: BLS/CPR within 30 days of hire; ACLS within 6 months.
