Job Summary
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The Prior Authorization Specialist is a field-based support role for NanoKnife reimbursement efforts by working collaboratively with partnered Territory Managers, NanoKnife customers and reimbursement operations personnel to assist with reimbursement activities. This role ensures patients have access to therapies by collaborating with healthcare providers, payers and internal teams to navigate insurance requirements and reimbursement processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinates the authorization process with the office personnel, payer representatives and NanoKnife reimbursement operations.

Provides education on the NanoKnife benefits & process to payor case managers and other payor-focused contacts.

M
aintains customer profile data on the different layers of managed care contacts in geography.

Works in partnership to ensure that the Field Reimbursement Specialist activities support the prior authorization goals and objectives.

Supports reimbursement focused activities for field sales, proactively educates payor case management, prepares appropriate documentation packages for authorizations, and understands and communicates the managed care flow of the geography.

Initiates and follows up on Letters of Agreement with targeted payors.

Educates physicians and physician offices on reimbursement best practices and initiatives.

Communicates with field sales on reimbursement best practices and trends with designated payors.

Acts as point of contact for field sales and leadership team during reimbursement process.

May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Level of Degree in the related field of study.

2 years of demonstrated experience in prior authorizations.

Preferred: Case Manager or Resource Utilization experience.

Skills / Knowledge

Ability to comfortably navigate the internet as well as payor websites.

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Exceptional interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational skills.

Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

Ability to effectively communicate both internally and externally.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Physical / Work Requirements

Work safely and follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies and procedures.

For all on-the-job injuries or accidents, must notify manager/supervisor immediately.

Exposure to standard office environment and medical facilities.

Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 15 lbs.

Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Ability to regularly sit or stand for extended periods of time.

Position requires occasional travel up to 30% of the time.
