Overview This is a limited-term Postdoctoral position in public health/clinical informatics with collaboration with the Department of Neurology, focusing on cerebrovascular diseases using high-dimensional and multi-faceted data. Primary research will be NIH-funded studies to develop prediction models for stroke using electronic health record data enriched with social determinants of health from multiple institutions. The position is scheduled to begin as soon as possible and requires geographic proximity to Hershey Medical Center/Penn State College of Medicine for in-person activities, with opportunities for hybrid work.
Responsibilities Conduct and contribute to NIH-funded studies to develop prediction models for stroke using electronic health record data and social determinants of health across multiple institutions.
Author publications resulting from the research and contribute to manuscript preparation.
Engage in mentorship activities and seek opportunities to obtain independent grant support in later years.
Collaborate with the Department of Neurology and other team members on ongoing projects.
Qualifications A PhD in statistics/biostatistics, public/population health, bioinformatics, computer science, or another appropriate field, or an MD (or MD, MPH) with experience working with big data.
Familiarity with R and one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Perl, C++, Java, or MATLAB).
Strong scientific writing skills, demonstrated by at least two first-author publications and at least four co-author publications.
Ability to learn independently in a dynamic environment and to work as part of a collaborative team.
Employment Details Term: Limited-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire.
Location: Hershey, PA; in-person activities required with hybrid work options.
