Position: Revenue Utilization Review (RUR) Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) — Registered Nurse (RN)
Responsibilities Directly responsible for the oversight and leadership of staff and the RUR department to accomplish business operations of the RUR team and the mission of the VA.
Provide leadership and supervision to RUR staff nurses who validate service connection (SC) and special authority (SA) eligibility and make decisions regarding authorization retrieval by third-party payers (TPPs).
Serve as a resource to Program Support Assistants (PSAs) for retrieving authorizations and collaborating with staff nurses.
Demonstrate clinical and nurse leadership skills through communication, mentoring, and grade-appropriate critical thinking.
Lead and organize the RUR nursing program to ensure continuity of operations, peer accountability, organizational needs, and consistency in nursing practice.
Interpret CPAC RUR policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure staff compliance.
Contribute to the RUR program through process improvement initiatives and RQC processes.
Act as a competent clinical consultant to RUR staff, CPAC Leadership, and VA medical facilities regarding Revenue Utilization Review procedures.
Evaluate current practices and formulate outcomes for groups of nurses, PSAs, patients, and organizational processes.
Collaborate with other departments within the facility and CPAC to establish goals and enhance the RUR program.
Support software efficiencies to perform workload tasks and learn data analytics to track, monitor, and trend revenue recovery.
Counsel and train staff on current and new processes while monitoring staff efficiencies.
Manage in stressful situations and adapt priorities to organizational needs.
Provide supervisory and administrative/clinical oversight, planning and assigning work, scheduling, approving leave, and conducting performance evaluations for supervised employees.
Operate under moderate supervision and guidance from the RUR Nurse Manager and Director.
Qualifications Basic Requirements:
English Language Proficiency as required by VA policy.
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by accrediting bodies (ACEN/CCNE) or equivalent pathway as described; or appropriate bridge program with licensure pathway.
Current, full, active, and unrestricted nursing registration in the United States; GNT exception may apply for entry-level appointment while pursuing licensure.
Note: Grandfathering provision for those already employed in VHA 0610 series as of 1/29/2024.

Work Requirements Physical demands: generally minor; mostly sedentary with occasional bending, walking, and lifting up to light items.
Must be able to sit at a desk, read, transcribe, and use computer terminal with close visual acuity.
