Overview Medical Director of the Palliative Care Program at By The Bay Health, a non-profit established in 1975. Provides clinical, operational, and strategic leadership to ensure delivery of high-quality, patient-centered palliative care services. Partners with the interdisciplinary team to expand program reach, maintain compliance, and strengthen stakeholder relationships while fostering a supportive environment for staff and learners.
Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:30am - 5:00pm; nights and weekends required throughout the year
Location: By the Bay Health. By The Bay Health follows all CDPH vaccine requirements for healthcare personnel.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (but are not limited to):
Clinical & Program Leadership: Provide overall medical leadership to the Palliative Care Program; oversee delivery of high-quality, evidence-based palliative care in alignment with program goals and standards.
Team Management & Development: Lead, mentor, and evaluate physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary staff; foster a culture of collaboration, respect, and continuous learning.
Quality, Compliance & Operations: Monitor program quality metrics, clinical outcomes, and patient satisfaction; ensure compliance with regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and organizational policies.
Additional Responsibilities: GIP Program Oversight—provide clinical leadership for General Inpatient (GIP) programs, support GIP care delivery, and ensure compliance and patient-centered care; HPM Fellowship Preceptor—serve as a preceptor for Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellows rotating through the program, fostering clinical skills and professional growth.
Education/Experience Minimum 5 years of clinical palliative care experience, with leadership experience strongly preferred
Demonstrated expertise in interdisciplinary team management and program development
Strong communication skills, with ability to engage diverse stakeholders and advocate for palliative care services
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Board certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
Pay Range $139.00 - $144.00 hourly
