Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced medical director to lead our palliative care practice at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – McKinney. The medical director will manage the day-to-day operations of the group, including staffing, schedule oversight, and quality initiatives, while collaborating with hospital departments and leadership. The position offers the opportunity to work with a well-established practice and supportive hospital leadership.
The Physician HTPN examines and treats patients with various conditions. Responsibilities include taking patient histories, requesting tests, making diagnoses, prescribing treatments, administering vaccinations, performing follow-up exams, and educating patients on disease prevention and health maintenance. The Physician HTPN supervises the clinical activities of allied health and advanced practice professionals.
Essential Functions of the Role
Chair the Hospital Palliative Care Committee
Serve as Hospital lead for Palliative Care Consultation Services
Develop, review, maintain, and execute ongoing multi-year Strategic Plans for Clinical Ethics and Palliative Care (CE&PC) delivery at the hospital
Serve as a working member of BHCS System Ethics and Palliative Care Council (SEPCC)
Develop and implement training programs for physicians and non-physician staff to deliver CE&PC services both inpatient and outpatient
Provide leadership to enhance clinical expertise in caring for patients with pain and symptoms associated with advanced life-limiting diseases
Supervise the clinical activities of a care team that may include other providers and allied health professionals

Qualifications
Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine required
Board Certified in Internal Medicine
3-5 years of practice or clinical management experience
Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for working effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
