Overview The Medication Care Manager is responsible for providing the highest degree of quality care and services by administering medication and treatments in a safe organized manner. Responsibilities include but are not limited to administration of medications, documentation of medication administration, and providing resident care while demonstrating the Mission for Sunrise Senior Living, “to champion the quality of life for all seniors” in accordance with federal, state/provincial, and local laws, standards, and regulations and Sunrise Senior Living policies to promote the highest degree of quality care and services to our residents.
Responsibilities
Medication Administration: Provide quality care by administering medications and treatments safely; review, read, notate, and initial the electronic health record; receive medication updates from the Resident Care Director (RCD) or Wellness Nurse; administer, assist with, and observe medications and treatments using the medication administration record and the Six Rights of Medication Pass; ensure medications are passed on time using the mobile med cart; document administration and clinician notes for refusals or missed doses; maintain confidentiality of resident information; report concerns and unavailable medications to the RCD or Wellness Nurse; restock medication carts; assist in checking medication packaging; assess for as-needed medications and document/report appropriately; count narcotics with a partner each shift and report discrepancies; maintain and clean medication rooms and carts; follow refill processes and notify if a new prescription is needed; help residents maintain independence and dignity; adhere to Sunrise Principles of Service and infection control practices.
Resident Care Communications: Notify the RCD of resident and/or family concerns; attend daily Cross Over meetings; participate in the development of Individualized Service Plans (ISP).
Risk Management and General Safety: Ensure compliance with regulations, promote risk management programs, practice PPE, fire safety, SDS, lockout/tagout, report accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions, keep paths clear, comply with infection control and disposal of hazardous materials, and manage oxygen tanks safely.
Training and Team Contribution: Participate as a team member, uphold Team Member Credo, contribute to engagement programs, attend regular meetings and required trainings, and perform other duties as assigned.
Core Competencies: Make resident-centered decisions, stay calm in difficult situations, manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively, and demonstrate good judgment and problem solving.
Qualifications
High School diploma/GED (as required by state/provincial regulations); must be at least 18 years of age.
Maintain applicable certifications (e.g., CPR and First Aid) as required by Sunrise and regulations.
Previous experience working with seniors preferred; desire to serve and care for seniors.
In some locations, must sign Driver job description if driving a Sunrise vehicle.

Compensation Base pay range: $20.00/hr - $25.05/hr. This range is provided by Sunrise Senior Living and actual pay is based on skills and experience; discuss with your recruiter to learn more.
