Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Case Manager experienced in lien negotiations to join our team. The primary function of this role is to coordinate medical treatment for clients whose cases are in litigation and negotiate post-settlement liens, including health insurance liens, hospital liens, private medical provider liens, and state and federal medical provider liens.
Responsibilities Work closely with attorneys and litigation staff to coordinate and schedule medical treatment for clients after case is in litigation
Review medical records and client files to identify all related bills and liens
Maintain and update client files by reviewing case notes and tracking treatment progress
Communicate with clients and healthcare providers about medical treatment
Prepare medical summaries and chronologies to assist attorneys in case preparation
Compile and tabulate all associated client costs, medical bills, and fees
Report all statutory liens, including Medi-Cal, Medicare, private health insurance
Communicate with providers and creditors to confirm lien amounts and negotiate liens
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all negotiations, agreements, and communications pertaining to lien resolution
Draft reduction letters to resolve and negotiate medical liens
Negotiate all medical liens, Medpay reimbursement claims, waivers, and attorney liens in settled personal injury cases
Serve as the contact for clients after case resolution to provide regular updates and correspond by phone and email with creditors and providers
Draft closing documents and disbursement statements
Issue checks to providers and clients
Assist in trial preparation (organizing exhibits, preparing binders, bate stamping, and document audits)
Complete other office tasks assigned by management
Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in Case Management and personal injury lien negotiations
Strong working knowledge of various governmental healthcare provider policies and procedures for lien negotiation and resolution (e.g., Medicare, Medi-Cal, Medicaid, private health insurance)
Familiarity with industry practices and procedures in lien negotiation and resolution with health insurance providers, private healthcare providers, and hospital/ER/EMS providers
Experience working with medical bills and records
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and other applications/systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and demonstrates a sense of urgency
Punctual, excellent in time management, and interested in building a career
Spanish-speaker required
